Jean Lavonne (Jordan) Newby

Jean Lavonne (Jordan) Newby, 82, of Chandler, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Stroud, Oklahoma.

She was born August 20, 1941 to Dewey and Jewel (Dunkin) Jordan in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Jean was raised in Shawnee and graduated with the class of 1958 from Shawnee High School.

She married Harold Newby on June 18, 1958 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. After marriage they moved to Bethany and eventually made their forever home in Chandler.

Jean worked for Western Electric in Oklahoma City for 30 years.

She enjoyed riding horses, doing crafts and was an excellent artist, and an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Jewel Jordan; sister, Rita Hendon and Lynn Hill; and brother, Jerry Jordan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 66 years, Harold Newby of the home; 2 nieces, Lisa Wright and Jacintha Kelly; 2 nephews, Kent Hendon and Jordan Hill; 2 sisters-in-law, Margie Newby and Lois Jordan; and other extended family and friends.

No formal services will be held. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Cremation arrangements handled by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
