Nelson, Bill J., 78, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at his home in Midwest City. Born February 3, 1930, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Edward and Goldie Nelson.
He lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track at Walters High School and was an AAU boxer. He graduated from Walters in 1948.
He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma (Sue) Whelan, in 1950.
He was a salesman, selling a variety of products and services for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Theodore, Floyd, Edward, and John; sisters, Edith and Louise; daughter, Cheryl Sue; and grandson, Landon.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue; children: Bill Nelson, Jr., and wife Martha, Linda Nichols and husband Mark, Kenny Nelson and wife Karen, Leigh Bourland and husband Jim, and Mark Nelson; grandchildren, Dustin Faulk and wife Nicole, Sunny Swopes and husband Terry, Summer Epps and husband Luke, Chelsea Stanfield and husband Shane, Madison Bourland, Sky, Philip, Greg, Perri, Brett, Derek, Mara, and Kirstin Nelson; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Capri, and Calli Faulk; Landon and Jackson Swopes; Gracie, Zoie, and Sadie Epps; and Layne Stanfield; along with hundreds of children that he cared for and helped raise.
The Memorial Service will held Thursday, November 6, 2008, at 4:00 P.M., at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City.
