Matthew Louis Nelson
June 4, 1964 ~ November 5, 2020

A Celebration of Life for Matthew Louis Nelson, age 56, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Tom LeGrand officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11th at the funeral home. Cremation and service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Matt was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on June 4, 1964, to Siegel and Myrtle (Oliver) Nelson, and passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Enid.

Matthew graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Oklahoma. He then attended college at Phillips University where he participated in the Activities Council and the Gridlock Club. He received a Masters Degree and used his education and talents helping other people as a social worker. He worked for Meadowlake Hospital, NW Behavioral Health, Long-Term Care Authority of Enid, and his last position was with Grand Lake Mental Health in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Sherri Craig Morrow, and they enjoyed a quiet life together, spending time with their grandchildren and their beloved dogs. Matt and Sherri were one week shy of celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary when she passed away suddenly on July 21, 2020.

Matt was preceded in death by his wife Sherri Nelson; parents, Siegal and Myrtle Nelson; and grandmother Lucille Champ. He is survived by two sisters, Brenda Hoffman and husband Terry, of Garber, OK; Shree Perez and husband Jose, of Nolanville, TX; Donnie Holloway, of Enid; nieces Amber Borders and family; Jessica Perez and family, of Texas; Tylie Jared and family, of Prague, OK; and nephew, Bryant Hoffman, of Garber; as well as a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Roscoe and Dudley.

Memorial contributions in Matt's name may be made to the Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
