James O. Nelson, 64 year old Disney resident, left the loving hands of his family to the loving hands of the Lord August 12, 2003 in Grove, Oklahoma.
He had been blessed with a good life, devoted family, and an abundance of friends and will be dearly remembered by all.
Jim was born on January 3, 1939 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to George and Velma Isbelle Nelson.
He worked on numerous cowboy ranches and was a roughneck. Jim also worked at Lakemont Shores in maintenance with the water department and as a volunteer fireman.
He was a member of Cheyenne Round-Up Club and North American Fishing Club.
He always had a good story or joke to tell about his two passions, hunting and fishing.
He was a devoted husband, father, and Pappa.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents; daughter, Maxine Barnes; son, James Nelson II; and grandson, A. J. Goforth.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Nelson; three children, Shelia Green and husband Albert Goforth of Sortman Shore; Sharon Herron and husband Brian of Bluejacket; Paula Neece of Bluejacket; nine grandchildren, Mike Green and wife Amy; Jennifer Barnes, Nikiah Boswell, Doug Styles, Misty Nelson, Doc Wright, Donald Herron, Amanda Neece and Beth Neece; three great grandchildren, Katie Green, Olivia Lucas, and David Seth Wright; three brothers, George Nelson, Charles Nelson, and Joe Nelson; seven sisters, Betty Mitchell, Annie Sanders, Emily Brooks, Lynnette Sprotes, Agnes Long, Darla Davis, and Barbara Weatherly; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Nelson family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the family residence with cremation to follow. Officiating will be Bro. Ray Larkin. Serving as honorary casket bearers are Mike Green, Doug Styles, Brian Herron, Donald Herron, Doc Wright and Albert Goforth.
Services arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Langley.
