Terry B Nance

Terry B Nance
Mar 12, 1943 ~ Jan 2, 2017

Memorial service for Terry B. Nance will be 10:00a.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Ray Crawford will share words of comfort. Terry passed away at his home on Christmas day with his family by his side. He was 73.

Born March 12, 1943 in Miami, Oklahoma to Robert A. and Alene (Shelton) Nance, Terry was raised in Miami until his senior year of high school when his parents moved to Nowata. He graduated from Nowata High. He then attended college at NEO in Miami and Oklahoma State University. As a young man, he also attended Montana Auction School and worked as a livestock auctioneer.

On December 30, 1988, he married Glee Dunn in Bartlesville. Terry was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville for 30 years where he served as Assistant Secretary/Manager of Stockholders Records. After retirement, not yet ready to slow down, he brushed up on his auctioneering skills at Missouri Auction School. Terry started a post-retirement career as an independent contract auctioneer for several auction companies. He also donated many hours of auctioneering services to the Pinto Horse Association and various other charitable groups and schools.

The joy of his life was his grandchildren. He took great pride in their accomplishments from dance recitals to the roping pen to the show ring. He was an active supporter of Rogers County 4-H Horse Club, Claremore FFA and anything else in which the grandkids showed an interest.

He was inducted into the Pinto Horse Association Hall of Fame in 2008, was a lifetime member of the Pinto Horse Association, the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge, WASANO Shrine, Akdar Shrine Clubs and attended church at Claremore 1st United Methodist Church and The Cowboy Gatherin Church in Inola.

Terry is survived by his wife Glee Nance of Claremore; daughter Carla Rader and husband Steve of Claremore; granddaughter Evi Rader of Stillwater; grandson Myles Rader and fianc Samantha Estes of Stillwater; niece Amanda Dalton and nephew Stephen Long of Monkey Island; cousins Darrell Bilkey of Edmond, Joyce Honey of Midwest City and Sandy Owen of Roland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dr. Judith Long.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Terry's name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont , Co 80502.
