Harold Lee Murray

March 2, 1934 ~ March 16, 2009

Harold Lee Murray, 75, was born March 2, 1934 to Harold Raymond Murray and Lela Merle "Lady" (Parish) Murray at Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He passed away March 16, 2009, in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Harold is survived by his wife, of 49 years. Sherry Sue (Stubblefield) Murray; one son, Earl Ray Murray; and two granddaughter's, Raychel Parr Murray and Jule Rae Howard, all of Lindsay.

Harold was preceded in death by his daughter. Lisa LeAnn Murray, and his parents.

Harold graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1952, Oklahoma A and M in 1956, and Southern Methodist University School of Banking in 1972.

He joined the Navy in 1956 to learn to fly jets. When his program changed, he decided to leave the Navy because, according to Harold, "My Momma doesn't make me wake up at five in the morning". Upon leaving the Navy, he moved back to Rush Springs.

Harold married Sherry Sue Stubblefield on September 4,1959. Harold was a husband, father, rancher, salesman and banker.

He began his career as a salesman of the Hi-Vi Dog Food Company, then, was employed by the First National Bank of Chickasha as Vice President Eventually, Harold and his family moved to Lindsay where he went to work for the First National Bank of Lindsay as the Vice President and became the President and Chief Executive Officer until his retirement in 2007.

Harold enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting quail, the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado and his ranch where he raised cattle.

He was an avid diner and loved to eat 'out'.

Harold became a member of the Church of Christ at age nine and strived to be a good member until the end of his life.

Throughout his career he was involved in many clubs and outside activities and held one public position. Harold was a member of the Lindsay Rotary Club, Lindsay Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Masonic Lodge, Chickasha Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lindsay Chamber of Commerce, Lindsay Industrial Society and served as Treasurer to the City of Lindsay for fifteen years.

A memorial service for Harold has been set for two o'clock p.m., Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 at the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Dale Jones, Jeny McCorkle and Rick Popejoy officiating. The service is under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
