Bobby Ray Murnan

Bobby Ray Murnan
December 26, 1934 ~ February 8, 2019

Bobby Ray Murnan passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at his residence in Bartlesville, OK. He was born December 26, 1934 in Delaware, OK to Alval and Ethel Louise (Marler) Murnan. Bob graduated from Delaware High School, where he was very active in FFA, in 1953. He then enrolled at Oklahoma A&M College. Bob then joined the Air Force.

He married the love of his life, Miss Monte Lou McMains in Delaware on April 3, 1957. Bob and Monte made a career of the Air Force, moving to many stations including Goose Bay, Labrador, New Orleans and Wichita, KS. Bob was a Chief Master Sergeant of the Avionics Branchat McConnell Air Force base in Wichita, KS.

After retiring in 1994, they moved to Bartlesville. They enjoyed camping and fishing with Monte's sisters and their husbands at Bennet Springs State Park in Missouri. Bob loved horse racing and could be found in Tulsa watching the telecast. Bob and Monte were very involved in their church and have peeled bushels and bushels of apples for the church apple pie sale.

When Bob wasn't working, hunting or fishing, he was with his loving wife of 58 years, Monte.

Bob is survived by a brother; Wayne Murnan and wife LuAnn, Sisters' in Law; Betty Overfelt, Jennie Orban and Carol Scott, Nieces; Karen Gibson and husband Steve, Nancy Kent, Peggy McLean, Kathy Riva and husband John, Kristi Rupp and husband Robert, Kim Lopez and husband John, LaLaina Coppinger and husband Lance, Nephews; Todd Murnan and wife Lisa, David Scott, John Scott and Connie Oltmans.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife; Monte, sister; Ila Dean Murnan, Sister in Law; Peggy Wood, Niece; Debra Oltmans and nephews; Terry Orban and Rick Murnan.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at the Benjamin Funeral Chapel in Nowata, Ok, with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service.
