Dorothy Dee Murlin, 80 year old Sharon resident died Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Woodward, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Faith United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Private family interment will follow the memorial service, with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Dee (McHaney) Murlin was born on July 11, 1939, in Woodward, Oklahoma to Fred Rollan and Corella Lucille (Wright) McHaney. Dorothy grew up in Woodward, attended Woodward Public Schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Darrel Louis Murlin on June 1, 1957, in Arnett, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and were blessed with five children, Stephen Fred, Lisa Kim, Traci Tane, Timothy Darrel (Beau), and Megan Luann. Dorothy's favorite job was being mother to her children, and she worked as a manager at C-mart until her retirement in 2000.
Dorothy enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a long-time member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Stephen Murlin and wife Julie of Vici, OK, Lisa Vassar and husband Terry of Woodward, OK, Beau Murlin and wife Andrea of Woodward, OK, Megan Murlin of Sharon, OK, grandchildren: Jeremy Vassar and wife Brenna, Kendall Smith and husband Michael, Stacy England and husband Billy, Madison Murlin, Caitlynn Calvillo, Jordan Murlin and wife Emily, Darian Campbell and husband Wyatt, Ethan Murlin, Bryce Larkey, and Hattie Larkey, great-grandchildren: Daly, Kohl, Shelby, Cody, Kollyns, Bexley, and Hudson, sister: Lois Young and husband Bill of Mooreland, OK, brother: Tommy McHaney and wife Reann of Grandbury, TX, several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Rollan McHaney and Corella Lucille (Wright) McHaney, and her Father-in-law Harry Louis Murlin, and Mother-in-law Iola Belle (Ross) Murlin, her husband, Darrel Louis Murlin, and infant daughter, Traci Tane Murlin.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
