Charles “Joe” William Morton was born on December 30, 1945, to John Jackson Morton and Minnie Bell Tune Morton in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Charles went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2022, at the age of 76 years.
Most people knew Charles as Joe, a nickname he picked up at a young age and used most of his life. He was proud of his time working for the county and Bruners Salvage, but he was most proud of his time working at Stilwell Tire Shop with Ron Wisely. That is where you would find him most days, drinking coffee and visiting with everyone who stopped by the shop.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Stephen Andrew Morton and John Michael Morton.
Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years: Diane Lucille Morton of Stilwell; 10 children: Joseph Reneau and wife Shana of Springdale, Arkansas, John Reneau and wife Beth of Florida, Tony Morton and wife Ann of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Jody Thompson and husband Joe of Stilwell, Lisa Glave and husband John of Stilwell, Robin Heskett and husband Jesse of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Joe Livers of Stilwell, Chuck Reneau and finance Ashley of Fort Smith, Arkansas, David Reneau and wife Donna of Peggs, Oklahoma, and Josh Reneau and wife Crystal of Peggs, Oklahoma. Joe is also survived by 7 brothers and 2 sisters: Marvin Morton and wife Betty of Spiro, Oklahoma, Jackie Morton and wife Shirley of Poteau, Oklahoma, Kenny Morton of Arkoma, Roger Morton of Stilwell, George Morton of Poteau, Oklahoma, Donnie Morton and wife Joyce of Yellville, Arkansas, Bill Morton of North Carolina, Peggy Self of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Charlotte Williams of Stilwell. Joe also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Joe never met a stranger; his personality was larger than life and he touched the lives of all who knew him.
