Richard Patrick Moranville, 88, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on May 29, 2026, in Stillwater.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stillwater, Oklahoma, with his nephew Rev. Thomas Esselman officiating. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Florissant, Missouri.
Richard was born on October 27, 1937, in Perry County, Missouri, to Leo Thomas Moranville and Gertrude Mary Moranville (née Tucker). A graduate of St. Vincent High School in Perryville, Missouri. He grew up in southeast Missouri. In 1955 Richard joined the United States Air Force to serve his country until 1959.
Following his military service, Richard moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he met the love of his life, Margie Ann Gerlach, after Margie's identical twin sister set them up on a blind date. They were married on August 26, 1961, in Woodson Terrace, Missouri. In 1962 they moved to Washington, Missouri. In 1967, they moved to Florissant, Missouri where they resided until 2008. During that time, Richard worked as a data automation supervisor with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Corporation.
In 2008 Richard and Margie moved to New Franklin, Missouri where they were able to enjoy their three youngest grandchildren. In 2020 Richard and Margie moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. They were married for 64 years until Margie's passing December 1, 2025. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love.
A lifelong Catholic, Richard was an active and devoted member of his parish communities. He faithfully served at St. Sabina Parish in Florissant, Missouri and St. Peter and Paul Parish in Boonville, Missouri. He generously gave his time to numerous parish ministries and was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, attaining the rank of Fourth Degree.
Richard was known for his quiet generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. A gifted handyman, he seemed able to fix almost anything and was always ready to lend his skills and knowledge to family, friends, neighbors, and fellow parishioners. He never sought recognition for his good works, preferring instead to serve quietly and faithfully behind the scenes.
His greatest joys were his faith and his family. Richard enjoyed traveling wherever family gathered. More than any destination, being with those he loved was what mattered most.
Richard will be remembered for his strong faith, gentle spirit, hardworking nature, and the countless quiet acts of kindness that touched the lives of so many. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the communities he served, and the example of faithful stewardship he provided throughout his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie Ann Moranville; parents, Leo and Gertrude Moranville; brothers, Thomas and Charles Moranville; Sisters, Bernadette, Genevieve, Ann Marie, and Mary; and infant grandson, Joseph Richard Hunziker.
He is survived by his twin brother, Robert Moranville and his wife Gail of Hillsboro, IL, his sister Rita Esselman of Quincy, IL; four children: Jerry Moranville and wife Kristine of Florissant, MO, Mary Beth Hunziker and husband Dave of Stillwater, OK, Denise Welborn and husband Jeff of Joplin, MO, Amy Chitwood and husband Jon of New Franklin, MO.
He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Patrick Moranville (fiancée Emily Mueth), Erin Moranville (Hunter Tice), Emily Moranville, Mara Roberts (husband Brendan), Grace Hunziker (Zachary Croft), Johnathan Welborn (wife Klarissa), James Welborn (wife Megan), Matthew Welborn (wife Noelle), Katie Welborn (fiancé Kiet Lam), Chloe Chitwood, Korinna Chitwood, and Griffin Chitwood; and seven great-grandchildren: Miles Welborn, Mary Jane Welborn, Annie Welborn, Jesse Welborn, Sloane Roberts, and twins Teddy and Owen Welborn along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Moranville, James Welborn, Matthew Welborn, Griffin Chitwood, Brendan Roberts, and Kiet Lam.
