Sammy “Taco” Morales, 61, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on the morning of Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born on October 16, 1959, in Durant, OK to parents Wanda and Sam Morales.
Taco grew up in Durant, Oklahoma, and graduated from Durant High School in 1977. After working various jobs at a young age, he was employed with Texas Instruments and retired after 30 years.
He had many hobbies including woodworking, home improvements, playing drums, and hosting karaoke. Taco was a drummer for various bands, but most notably the 101 Proof Band. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He had a very outgoing, lighthearted, and jokingly personality, like his dad. Taco is preceded in death by his parents Wanda Bodine of Durant, OK and Sam Morales of Sherman, TX.
His memory will be cherished by his surviving children, daughters Brandy (Brett) Johnson of Bonaire, GA, Courtney (Robbie) Giles of Durant, OK, and son Shawn (Amber) Morales of Durant, OK. Also, his grandchildren Cambri, Bentley, Dierks, and Remi.
A memorial and life celebration will be determined and held at a later date. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff of Texoma Medical Center for their kindness, compassion, and excellent care given to their dad. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
