Wayne Henderson Moore, 84, passed from this life on Monday, December 15 at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19 at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dianna Matli and the Reverend Steve Roach officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on September 11, 1930 to Jacob Coleman and Jessie Florence (Soliday) Moore in Taloga, Oklahoma. He married Ruby Marie Matli on September 2, 1951 in Watonga, Oklahoma.
Wayne attended the Camargo schools. He went on to Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University), Colorado University, and Kansas State University. He received his B.S. in Agricultural Education and a B.S. in Animal Science, He was Chief of the Farm Program for the U.S.D.A. A major part of Wayne's life was farming in the Camargo area. His commitment to farming was prevalent in his vocation as a Farm Program Chief for USDA as well as a lifetime farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater, the Kiwanis, the O.S. U. Alumni Association and a member of NARF. He was also a very enthusiastic OSU fan, buying season tickets to five different O.S.U. sports. He especially loved O.S.U. football.
In 1953, Wayne enlisted with the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant and served in Korea. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Jessie Moore; brother, Bill Moore; niece, Leisa Moore; and nephew, Randy Matli.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Ruby Moore; son, Neal Owen Moore; daughter, Jessie Luann Marie (Moore) Bowman; grandchildren, Tyler Stearman, Caleb Bowman, Joseph Moore, Jessica Moore Heath Bowman; brothers, Bob (Shirley) Moore, Dennis (Glenda) Moore, and Martin (Mary Francis) Moore; and sister-in-law, Gerry Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Roberts, Floyd Hawk, Bob Matli, Tyler Stearman, Caleb Bowman and Joseph Moore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Wayne's name to the First United Methodist Church Foundation, 400 W 7th Ave, Stillwater, OK 74074.
