Bill Zack Moore passed away on July 8, 2020, in Tulsa, OK, though he was a resident of Cushing, OK.
Bill was born on September 11, 1935 in Pawnee, OK to Everett Shy Moore and Hazel Abigail Treat. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961, serving in the Korean War and two tours of Vietnam, where he received several service medals, including two Purple Hearts and a Commendation for Valor. He retired after twenty years as a Captain, went on to serve as a Deputy Sheriff in Colusa County, CA, then later, as Chief of Police for the Pawnee Indian Reservation in Pawnee, OK. In the 1980’s, he started Bill’s Handyman Service, and then managed the West Wind Duck Hunting Club in Fairfield, CA for ten years.
When he officially retired in the mid 1990’s, he became more active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he held the priesthood and received a calling to be the clerk at the Cushing, OK ward, which he held for ten years. He was Exalted Ruler of the Elk’s Lodge in Cushing and served in the VFW. Bill loved to hunt and fish, to build and fix things, and to talk politics.
He had six siblings, six children, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and his wife of 61 years, Sandra Moore, who passed away on March 1, 2020.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. The family will be holding a private family service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Sandra Mae Wilbur Moore, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed away on March 1, 2020. Born on May 15, 1938, in Oakland, California, she was the daughter of the late Sandford and Melva Wilbur.
Sandy attended high school in Oakland, California, and was a homemaker for many years before working for Oklahoma Home Health as a Nurse Aide. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and received a calling to work in the Family History Center, where she enjoyed doing genealogical research for others as well as her own family. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Bill Zack Moore, and her brothers: Roger Wilbur, Sandford Wilbur, and Laurence Dale Wilbur. She had four children: Jeffrey Moore, Michael Moore, David Moore, and Donna Moore Roberts; and eight grandchildren: Alyssa Wilbourn, Sunnie Nowlin, Bradley Moore, Kyle Moore, Wesley Moore, Hannah Fotsch, Maddie Moore, and Cassandra Roberts. She had several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1500 E. 9th Street, Cushing, Oklahoma, at 1:30 pm.
