Michael F. Moore, 72 year old Mooreland resident, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 north of Mooreland. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Michael Frank Moore was born in McCamey, Texas to Floyd Bodie and Lorean Q. (Cook) Moore on November 26, 1941. Michael attended school in McCamey and graduated from McCamey High School. He enlisted in the United States Army serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Michael was married to Carolyn Langford and two children were born to this union, Joyce Marie and Elizabeth Blanche. Michael was then united in marriage to Linda Gail Newman on August 4, 1965, to this union two children were born, Michael S. and Bobbi Jo. After being Honorably Discharged, Michael and Linda eventually moved to west Texas, where Michael began his career in the oilfield. In the mid 1970's Michael and his family moved to Mooreland. Michael worked in the oilfield holding several positions from roughneck, and drilling superintendent to owning his own company. Most recently Michael was working as a pumper at the time of his death.
Michael is survived by his wife Linda of Mooreland; daughters, Elizabeth Markham and husband Mark of Chester, VA; Joyce Reed of Visalia, CA; Bobbi Moore of Mooreland; one son, Michael Moore and his partner David Slaton of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Lyssa Hoffman; Austin Tice; Misty Bassham; and Corbin Reed; one sister, Bodine Johnson and husband Bob of Odessa, TX; one brother, Jim Moore and wife Dorothy of Ft. Stockton, TX; several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and recently his mother. He was also preceded by his brother Patric E. Moore.
