DOC WALTER MOORE - Services for Doc Walter Moore of Merced, California were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Woodman and the Merced Elks Lodge officiating.
Mr. Moore was born October 23, 1923 in Monroe, Oklahoma, and died February 7, 2000, at his residence at the age of 76. He had been a resident of Merced for the past 35 years.
He and Frankie Jo Bell were married in Ardmore on March 31, 1944. Mr. Moore was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Merced Elks Lodge #1240, and was named "Elk of the Year" for 1992-93. He was also a member of American Legion Post #83. He retired after 32 years as a supervisor for Weber Bread.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frankie Jo Moore, Merced, California; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Donna Moore, of Merced; a daughter and son-in-law, Gary and Karen Ferrero, of Merced; one granddaughter; four sisters, Frankie Shout of Stockton, California, Robbie Crapo of Paso Robles, California, Carol Whorton of Ely, Nevada and Alene Erickson of Acampo, California; and a brother, Earl Moore of Stockton, California.
Interment was in Merced District Cemetery under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home of Merced.
