Doris Raye (Hickman) Davis Moore joined our Lord on Friday, March 15, 2019. She had been hospitalized in Seiling Municipal Hospital since Friday, February 15, 2019 after injuries received from a fall in her home.
Doris was born April 4, 1934 to James Wortha and Geneva Pauline (Martin) Hickman in Wilders, LaPorte County, Indiana. Doris attended Seiling High School, Seiling, Oklahoma and was graduated from Edgerton Rural High School, Edgerton, Kansas in 1952.
Doris married Leslie Eugene ‘Gene’ Davis on February 20, 1954 in Olathe, Kansas. Three children were born of this union: Leslie Eugene, Jr, Darla Faye, and Kenneth Eugene Davis.
Doris worked as a nurse’s aide at Reece Hospital, Gardner Ks, as a clerk in the Johnson County Clerk of the District Court office, Johnson County A.S.C.S. office, and as office manager of the Johnson County District Court Trustee Office in Olathe, Kansas. She moved to Oklahoma in 1980 and worked at Seiling Health Center, Seiling Municipal Hospital and the Vici Nursing Home. She also worked at the Woodward Senior Center as a bus driver and receptionist. Her last job before retiring was as an outreach worker for Opportunities Inc Community Action.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Leslie Eugene Davis, Jr., and her son, Kenneth Eugene Davis, her parents, James and Geneva Hickman, brother, James Carter Hickman, two sisters, Virginia Eileen and Yvonne Esta Hickman and her second husband, George W. Moore.
Surviving is her daughter, Darla Shane (John) of Kirbyville, Texas; sister, Faye Bensch Hansen (CJ) of Chester/Calumet, OK; brother, Phillip Hickman (Jane), of Chester, OK; grandson, Leslie Daniel Davis (Annie) of League City, Texas; granddaughter, Sheila Raye Gordon (Mark); one Great-Granddaughter, Gabrielle Rose Gordon of Talty, Texas and many beloved family members and friends.
Cremation was held. Private graveside services will be at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe, Kansas at a later date.
