June Eudora Moon passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Dewey United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Robart officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
June was born at 132 N. Santa Fe in Bartlesville, OK on January 4, 1918. She graduated from Dewey High School with the class of 1935. On August 30, 1936 in Bentonville, AR, June married Zack Garrison. To this union a daughter, Sharon was born.
In 1938 she graduated from Nursing School of Tulsa (now Hillcrest) and passed state boards in December 1938. June began her nursing career at Memorial Hospital in Bartlesville and after two years continued in the office of L.D. Hudson, MD in Dewey for 13 years. She finished her career working for George Kennedy, MD, and after 26 years of service retired on January 1, 1983.
June was very active in local and state Medical Assistants Associations. She was President of the District #9 association as well as President and lifetime member of the American Association of Medical Assistants of the Washington, Osage, Nowata county chapter. In 1965 she was elected President of the State of Oklahoma Medical Assistants. June was an active member of the Dewey United Methodist Church, teaching many Sunday School classes and was a member of the Come and Go class until she was no longer able to attend.
June was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Montgomery in 2003 and by her husband, Don Moon in 1999.
June is survived by one brother, H.R. "Bud" Guinan of Dallas, TX, one sister, Judy Scott of Bartlesville and one step-daughter, Nancy Moon of Cushing. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, three great nieces and nephews.
