Meril F Montee
Dec 1, 1926 ~ Nov 4, 2016

Meril F. Montee, 89, passed away November 4, 2016 at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Meril was born December 1, 1926 in Fleming, Kansas to Riley Finley and Cathern Alexine (Sparks) Montee. He attended Pittsburg High School and Kansas State Teachers College, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Lexington from 1944 to 1946.

He worked at Phillips Petroleum Company for 38 years, his career spanning work with the Supply, Transportation, and Marketing departments. During the course of his life, he proudly donated 28 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. In his retirement years, he spent time traveling the world with his wife, Maxine. He and Maxine loved square dancing and held voluntary and elected positions with local, district, and state square dance organizations. In his spare time, he volunteered at the Green Country Free Clinic.

In addition to square dancing and donating blood, Meril enjoyed fishing, spending time at the family cabin at Grand Lake, coaching little league baseball, and working with the Boy Scouts of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one daughter, Sharon Cooper.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Maxine (Inman); son David Montee and wife Robin Ellis of Traverse City, MI; granddaughter Whitney Cooper of Tulsa; and half-brother Rob Montee and wife Ellie of Parsons, Kansas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to convey their sincerest thanks and gratitude to the caring and wonderful people at The Journey Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Journey Home, the First Church of Bartlesville, or by donating blood to the Red Cross.

Services will be held at First Church of Bartlesville on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at 10am under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends who wish may sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
