James Robert "Bob" Montague, 76, of rural South Coffeyville, OK passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center in Nowata, OK.
He was born May 14, 1937 at Tulia, TX to Frank Ed and Allene (Jordan) Montague. Bob spent his early years and began his education in Texas, his family later moved to Arkansas before moving to Coffeyville where he completed his education.
On December 13, 1958 he married Ramona Wadkins at Miami, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville until moving to their farm in rural South Coffeyville in 1968.
Bob was employed as an operator / welder at the Sherwin-Williams Smelter, Aptus, Pyrochem, and Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant.
He was a member of Rose Hill Community Baptist Church northeast of Dewey, OK. Bob enjoyed working with horses, attending Rodeo's, and telling stories, but above all he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Montague of the home; his children, Trina and Tom Jordan of Nowata, OK, Marty and Teresa Montague of Ft. Towson, OK, Cherie and Dennis Howerton of Lenapah, OK, and Terri and Steve Barker of Copan, OK; one brother, Tom Montague of Santa Fe, TX; one sister, Susan Smith of Cypress, TX; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bob's life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church northeast of Dewey, OK, with Pastor Orville Moody officiating. Following Bob's wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
