Ronald D. "Ronny" Mitchell, 73, of Blanchard, Oklahoma passed away at his home March 2, 2017. He went peacefully in his sleep.
He was born November 10, 1943 in Dublin, Texas. Ronny�s family came to Martin County, Texas in 1950. They settled in the Courtney Community, later moving to Stanton.
Ronny quit school at 17 and joined the army where he spent the next 20 years. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam where he earned four Purple Heart Awards, two Bronze Star Medals with V Device plus many more commendations for acts of bravery.
Ronny leaves behind his loving wife, Robin of Blanchard, Oklahoma; two daughters, Shiloe Stewart and Jack O�Dell, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Stephen Mitchell of New Mexico and Cody Mitchell of Blanchard, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; one brother, Glen Mitchell and wife, Shirley, of Vancouver, Washington; one sister, Rosie McCuin and husband, Don, of Stanton, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronny was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Thelma Mitchell.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Indian Gap Cemetery in Hamilton County, Texas.
The family suggests memorials to the Martin County Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 1233, Stanton, Texas 79782 or to a charity of choice.
