Larry Dean Mishler

Larry Dean Mishler
June 29, 1941 ~ October 23, 2018

Larry Dean Mishler, 77, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, in his home, with this wife at his side. A memorial service will be held at Cimarron Valley Church, 902 N Sadler, Perkins, Oklahoma, at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2018 with Reverend Paul Dawson officiating.

Larry was born to Sam David Mishler and Romana Mae Alford Mishler, on June 29, 1941, in Altadena, California. He graduated from Rosemead High School, Rosemead, California and served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959.

Larry moved to Oklahoma in 1987 and married Judy Curtis on July 17, 1988. He was a member of First Assembly of God church in Coyle.

Larry's work history started at the age of seven, when he worked as a chicken rancher. He continued to raise chickens his entire life, and at one time operated a poultry auction in Miramira, California. He also worked at Sunkist in Sherman Oaks, CA for ten years. Larry bought and sold horses (and chickens) throughout his life. He joked that he helped many people make a lot of money over the years, but he never made much money for himself.

Larry began working in the maintenance department at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE) in 1989 and worked there until his death. He was very proud that he was the chair of the CareerTech Employees' Association, but his legacy will be a children's Christmas party he coordinated at ODCTE for many years. He started planning the party each year in January, and because of his passion and love for children, that party will go on as scheduled in December. According to Larry, it will be the best children's party ever at CareerTech.

Larry loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; three daughters: Laurie Hoyle of Panama City, FL, Amy Bock of Oklahoma City, and Michelle Mishler Brais of Reno, Nevada; one son, Larry Dean Mishler, Jr. (Carmen) of Corona, CA; stepson Richard Curtis of Stillwater; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister Linda People of Roseville, CA, and cousins Tommy Alford (Sherry) of Glencoe and Judy Hayes (Tom) of West Covina, Ca, as well as a host of co-workers and friends.
