Betty E. Minter, 84, longtime Bartlesville resident, passed on to her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 6, 2007.
She was born on February 20, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Ralph and Ola Edwards. She graduated from high school in Wyandotte, Okla., in 1942, and attended the University of Oklahoma.
She married Lloyd Minter in Oklahoma City on August 8, 1947. She and Lloyd had been Bartlesville residents since 1949 before moving to Montereau Retirement Resort in Tulsa in 2006. Lloyd was general counsel of Phillips Petroleum Company at the time of his retirement in 1978. He is a native of Pocasset, Okla.
In addition to being a homemaker, Betty was actively involved in a variety of community groups including the Bartlesville Service League, OK Mozart Festival, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children board member, and past president of the Hillcrest Women's Golf Association. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville for more than 50 years.
Betty is survived by her husband Lloyd of the home; one son, George and his wife Debbie of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Marilyn Minter Corey and her husband John of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter, Nancy Welch of Broken Arrow, Okla.; grandsons Christopher, Spencer; granddaughter Julie; a sister Tsianinni Storms of Duncan, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a triplet and was preceded in death by her brother Ralph, Jr. and sister Jane.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Minter's name to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children. Those who would like to make a donation may do so in care of their office at 3800 North May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July 9, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville with The Reverend Dr. Joe Dan Fowler and Dr. Sam Storms officiating.
