Ronnie Lewis Miller

Ronnie Lewis Miller
March 11, 1937 ~ December 6, 2012

Reverend Ronnie Lewis Miller was born on March 11, 1937 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Brady and Jossie (Barnett) Miller. He died after a lengthy illness on December 6, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 75.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Lawton 1st Assembly with Reverend Jim Robertson and Reverend Bill Brewer, officiating.

Interment is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Hughes Springs Cemetery in Texas next to his mother.

Viewing will be on Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 8:00 PM at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.

Ronnie was raised and attended school in Jackson, MS.

He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953 at the age of 16, and although we don't know all of the details, he was discharged after 6 months and then re-enlisted in 1954 on his 17th birthday, remaining until honorably discharged on November 29, 1957 at the end of 4 years of total service.

Ronnie entered seminary after his discharge and eventually pastored churches in California and Illinois before settling at Lawton where he was pastor at 9th and Lee Church of God for the next 28 years. He retired in 1994 from this position, but continued in the ministry at Kingfisher, OK until his auto accident in February of 2010.

Ronnie enjoyed collecting sports cards and coins, spending his mornings at the local coffee shop laughing and joking with his friends, and was always an active part of any community where he lived. He will be remembered as a man of faith who loved God, his family and his country.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Ronnie Lewis Miller, Jr; and two brothers, Fred and Willie Miller.

Survivors include Carol Miller of the home; his son, Mike Miller, Sr and wife Judy of WA; grandchildren, Ronnie, Jack and Misty Miller in OK; Michelle Davis and Rachael Miller in WA, and Michael Miller, Jr and wife Vanessa in Italy; great grandchildren, Rivers, Lincoln, Aspen, Lola-Claire, Lucy, Michael III, and Lexi. Ronnie has 3 surviving sisters, Dorothy Jacoby and husband Richard, Lois Smith and husband Fred, and Mary Saxton; 2 brothers, James and Robert Miller; and Carol's children, Becky Bowlus, Debby Tores and husband Jaime, and Mark Allen and wife Teresa, as well as her 5 grandchildren, Trace, Taryn, Trent, Blair and Grace, all of OK.

Memorials
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Reverend Ronnie Miller's name to: Disabled American Veterans, 2311 N Central Ave, STE 1000B, Oklahoma City, OK, 73105.
