Nathan Dean Miller

Nathan Dean Miller
April 21, 1951 ~ July 31, 2025

Nathan Dean Miller was born on April 21, 1951, and passed away on July 31, 2025, at the age of 74.

Nathan graduated from Wellston High School in 1969. He then voluntarily served in the army from 1969 to 1975, where he fought in the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war, he got a house near the “Dougherty’s”. This was the beginning of a strong lifelong family bond. The Millers and the Dougherty’s remain close friends to this day. When Nathan began dating Mabel, they spent lots of time with the Doughtery family. Nathan and Mabel married in November 1972 and started their family.

Nathan began his career at family-owned Dennis Donuts, where he was probably the top salesman! He then worked at Standard Roofing and Children's Hospital in OKC. This was before he began his 24-year career at Tinker AFB. Nathan started at Tinker in 1984 and retired in 2008.

Nathan was very involved in his children's lives. He was a proud father who was willing to help out with anything they got involved with. He coached their sports teams, and he taught them how to work hard and to appreciate the value of a dollar. Nathan taught all of his kids how to noodle. He looked forward to the 2 week family vacation at Eufaula Lake every year. While they were at the lake, they would teach the kids and anyone willing to get in the hole to noodle. Nathan’s biggest catch came from the big rock at Eufaula Lake, weighing in at 62 lbs!

When it came to fundraising, Nathan was a dedicated philanthropist. He supported all youth programs by purchasing tickets, candy bars, and any other items they were selling. Earlier, we mentioned that Nathan was a natural-born salesman. Well, we can back that statement up with one phrase… BLUE AND GOLD SAUSAGE! We checked the unofficial records; Mr. Coulson estimates Nathan's sales to total approximately $40,000.

Nathan loved country music just a little too loud, he was a pretty bad driver, and he was a kind-hearted man who loved family and having a good time!

Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lawrence Miller and Mildred (Pierce) Miller, Sisters Nona Fay Miller, Janice Hurst, Elnora Miller, Roberta Perterman, Martha Butler and Brother Richard Miller.

Nathan is survived by his wife, Mabel Miller of Wellston, OK; Sons Willis and Rita Miller, Victor Miller, and Shane Miller; and Daughter Wendy and Russell Payne. Grandchildren Kayla and Vonte Mitchell, Kole and Abbi Miller, Karley Miller, Katherine Miller and Laci Wood, Wyatt Miller, Shianne, Savanah, Taytum, Georgia, Virginia, Carolina, and Magnolia Miller, Whitney Payne, Brittany and Tanner Franks, Elisabeth and Trenton Henson, and Tinley Payne. Great-grandchildren, Mariah, Joycelyn, Jhett Miller, and Jaden Mitchell. Brothers H.L. Miller and Olan Miller. And Sister Audrey Ochoa. A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Lehman Funeral Home.
