Michael Ray Miller, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at his home. He was 68 years old.
Mike was born to Oscar and Georgia Miller on May 29, 1948 in a doctor's office in Ponca City. He spent his early years growing up in Marland where he helped on the family farm and spent his time in Future Farmers of America, becoming a National Farmer Winner.
He continued living in Marland where his son, Todd, and daughter, Tammy, were born. Later he moved to Ponca City where he met Marcia and they married in 1977.
Mike worked at various car dealerships in Ponca City, Ark City, and Stillwater, retiring in 2015. He continued to work part-time as a service writer at Wal-Mart.
When his kids were younger, Mike enjoyed attending FFA and sporting events as well as helping coach a few. He also spent many hours doing automotive work for family and friends.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to work in the garden and tinker in his shop. He was a very proud Poppy and loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Miller; four children, Todd Miller and wife Jennifer of Ponca City, Tammy Gladden and husband Gary of Asher, Christine Hicks and husband Mark of Skiatook, and Jason Bell and Jane of Ponca City; seven grandchildren, Christina Gladden and Jeremy, Riley Hawkins, Sidney McGinty and husband Jared, Caleb Bell, Garrett Gladden, Mckenzie Bell, and Jenna Gladden; two great-grandchildren, Jett Tooley and Lucy May Elaine McGinty; brother Oscar Miller and wife Lynne of Easton, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters who died at birth, mother and father-in-law, several aunts and uncles, niece, and great nephew.
A memorial ceremony will be held at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Donnie Hazelwood officiating.
