Butch was born on February 17, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, the first child of Lloyd and Sue Miller. He attended grade school and lived in the Chicago suburb of Palos Heights, Illinois. He was the oldest of three boys.
In 1965, Lloyd moved the family to Durant to open a branch of the Chicago-based Strombecker Corporation. The Durant company, named Durant Electronics, became better known locally as "the Toy Factory." Some of Butch’s early summers were spent working there.
Butch attended Durant High School and was an avid reader, with a particular passion for World War II history. Recognizing his deep interest, his history teacher invited him to lead class discussions on WWII strategies and war plans.
After graduating from Durant High School, Butch attended Southeastern University, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration. He briefly worked for the FDIC in Dallas but always found his way back home to Durant. His lifelong love of motorcycles and race cars led him to his ultimate dream job: opening Honda Polaris of North Texas, a cycle shop in Sherman, Texas, with a business partner. This shop remained his professional focus until retirement.
From childhood, Butch cherished family vacations to Moose Lake, Wisconsin. After retiring, he spent summers at his beloved cabin in the Northwoods.
In recent years, after facing many health challenges, Butch passed away on June 8, 2025, in Durant.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd B. Miller ("LB"); his mother, Sue Miller; his youngest brother, Billy Miller; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his brother, Ric Miller, and brother-in-law Jon Martinez, of Oklahoma City, as well as many dear friends, including Dan and Ann Moore and Tim Briscoe.
The family extends their gratitude to his Centric Hospice care team and the compassionate staff at Oak Ridge Nursing Home. His ashes will be scattered at his beloved cabin up north.
*"Rain or shine," Butch would say, "every day at Moose Lake is a good day.”
