Adelbert Andy Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday afternoon, August 23, 2018, at his home at the age of 94 years.
Adelbert Andy Miller was born on October 21, 1923, in Fairview, Oklahoma, to Walter and Voleta (Quick) Miller.

Andy grew up on a farm in Major County and attended Red Top Grade School and Cheyenne Valley High School. In 1940 he moved with his family to Riverside, California, before returning to Fairview in 1942. On April 25, 1943, he married Maxine Graham in Fairview and they made their home in Clovis, New Mexico, where he worked for the Sante Fe Railroad. In 1945 they moved to Perryton, Texas, where he worked on a farm and sheep ranch. They later moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where he helped build rural high lines in western Oklahoma for R.E.A. In 1949 they returned to Fairview where Andy was employed as the City of Fairview electrician and he served as a volunteer fireman. In 1958 the family moved to Blackwell where he worked for the City of Blackwell as an electrician and electrical inspector for twenty-seven years. He also served as a volunteer fireman for Blackwell and completed twenty years of service. Upon his retirement in 1985, he still served the city as a consultant in electrical contracting and inspection. Following his retirement he worked as a handy man for Contact Point Ministries. He was known by most people as always ready to lend a helping hand and gave of his time freely. He never met a stranger and was always ready to strike up a conversation. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Miller of Blackwell; three daughters, Lois Diemer, Linda Miller and Leneta Barber, all of Blackwell; a grandson, David Diemer; four great grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordan, Joseph and Sara; and two great great grandchildren, Rylee and Ellee, all of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin brother, Albert Lewis Miller; and a son-in-law, Richard Barber.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 8th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Cap McIlnay and Rev. Robert Johnson officiating.

Servings as honorary pallbearers will be David Diemer, Jimmy Wilson, Jordan Diemer, Joseph Diemer, Tom Ware, Brad Coffey, Frank Barrows, David Corn and Les Chriestenson.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his honor with the First United Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma   74631.
