Michael Dale Meyers, 62, of Agra passed from this life on April 10, 2016 at his home.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and a service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel at 5106 N. Washington in Stillwater.
Michael was born on February 13, 1954 in El Paso, Texas to William Carl Meyers and Nova Nadine Giddeon Meyers.
He was raised in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1972. Following graduation he enrolled in school at OSU and moved to Stillwater.
In 1975 he married the love of his life, Deborah Coomer and they purchased 50 acres near Agra where they would raise their two sons, Jorge and Billy Meyers.
Michael and Debbie opened "The Alternative," a natural food store on Main Street in Stillwater and operated the store for several years. The promise of the oil boom was too tempting and Michael closed the store and headed to the oil patch. He worked as a roughneck/ motor man for Colorado Gas and TAG Petroleum for over 20 years. He spent several years working as a down hole pump repairman for Fechner Pump until accepting a position as a spa tech / repairman for Quality Water in Stillwater. In 2010, Michael retired due to health issues.
During his youth, Michael was active in the Boy Scouts of America.
He developed a love and respect for the outdoors at a young age and he carried that enjoyment of being in nature into adulthood. He enjoyed being out in his yard, spending time in his garden, trout fishing, and traveling to Colorado.
He was a reserved and introverted man who preferred the solitude of his land to the crowds and rushed pace of the city. He was a good listener and was easy to get along with.
Michael enjoyed spending time on his computer and he appreciated the information and convenience it provided. He also enjoyed catching up with old friends and recently had a chance to visit with friends he hadnt seen in decades.
Michael Meyers was a kind man who possessed a quiet strength. Those who knew him knew that there was nothing in this world he valued more than spending time with his wife of 40 years, Debbie and their sons, Billy and Jorge. He packed a lot of good times and great memories into his 62 years of life and he will be greatly missed by his friends and loving family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jorge Meyers.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, of the home; son, Billy Meyers and wife Jessica of Reston, Virginia; two brothers, Brad Meyers of Cushing and Jeff Meyers of Fairview; mother-in-law, Daisy Ulrich of Stillwater; two brothers-in-law, Mike Coomer of Glencoe and Keith Coomer of Denver, Colorado.
