Evelyn (Zimmerman) Winget Meyer

May 17, 1909 ~ Aug. 30, 2002

Evelyn Winget Meyer, 93, of Canyon died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 in Amarillo.

Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel with Dr. Roger A. Hubbard, pastor of Lake Tanglewood Community Church, and Dale Winget, son, officiating. Burial was in West Park Cemetery of Hereford.

Mrs. Meyer was born May 17, 1909, near Arnett, Okla. She was the daughter of Edgar Deloss Zimmerman and Edith Mae Eldredge Zimmerman. She was married to Weldon Lyle Winget on April 7, 1934, at McLean.

He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1953. Of that marriage there were four children born, all of whom survive her. She moved to Canyon from Hereford in 1961 and was married to John Albert Meyer in December of 1964.

He was a farmer near Canyon and preceded her in death in 1974. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years.

Survivors include three sons, R. Dale Winget of Flemington, N.J., Don B. Winget of Cedar Park and John D. Winget of Amarillo; a daughter, Barbara Arwine Morrow of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Helen Wagstaff and Annette Snapp; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Canyon Senior Citizens, 1719 Fifth Ave., Canyon, TX 79015.
