Roberto "Roby" Mersecchi

Roberto "Roby" Mersecchi
February 16, 1945 ~ October 30, 2022

Roberto (Roby) Mersecchi, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2022, at the age of 77. He was born on February 16, 1945, in Gorizia, Italy to Francesco Mersecchi and Elsa Morgagni.

At the age of 17, out of 300 applicants, Roby was awarded an academic scholarship from the American Field Service as an exchange student to America. He attended Haltom High School in Haltom City, Texas and graduated in 1963. Roby then began working for Texas Instruments while attending the University of Texas at Arlington where he graduated with his degree in Chemistry and Physics. After graduation Roby moved his family to Durant, Oklahoma and began his life as an entrepreneur. Roby had many successful businesses including: Southwest Pickling Steel Co., Romaran Kennels, and Roby‘s Flowers and Gifts. During these years, Roby, also attended White’s Ferry Road School of Preaching in West Monroe, Louisiana to learn about Jesus. He was baptized in 1980 and went on to preach for many years. He had many interests and loved gardening and his chickens. He was a forever student. He proudly became a citizen of the United States in 1979. Roby was a long-time member of the Durant Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club of Durant.

He was survived by his “Favorites”: His wife and best friend Cindy Mersecchi; brother Rover Mersecchi (Daniela) sisters Antonella Mersecchi (Loris) and Alessandra Mersecchi (Daniele); daughter Angie Mersecchi Wilson; daughter Alena Mersecchi (Reggie); son Jason Wright (Autumn); daughter Amanda Wright; daughter Michelle Nesbitt (Hank). Grandchildren: Milena ViVenzio(Trace), Matthew, Emilia and Lucas Wilson, Lauren and Chase Abbott, Cayden and Taylor Perry, Jayci Wright and Logan Gabriel, Haven, Harper and Lilly Nesbitt and Tyler and Broxton Malone. Great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Avery and Jacob ViVenzio, and Isabella Wilson. Mother-in-Law Dorthy Mae Martin and mother of Angie and Alena, Jayne Mersecchi Bolz and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Roby is preceded in death by his parents and his late wife Marian Mersecchi.

Funeral services to celebrate the amazing life of Roby Mersecchi will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2022, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
