Wanda Merchant, 89 year old Woodward resident, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating.
Wanda Pearl (McMahon) Merchant was born on October 25, 1934 in Curtis, Oklahoma to Earnest Olen and Olive (Grove) McMahon. Wanda grew up in Woodward and attended Woodward Schools. She graduated from Beauty College in California. Wanda owned and operated Wandas Hair Salon for 65 years until her retirement a couple of years ago.
She was united in marriage to Jack Merchant on August of 1983 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Wanda enjoyed bowling, watching football, especially the Ohio Bobcats, and spending time with her family. She was involved in a bowling league for many years and played on the Pink Panthers basketball team at Kids Inc.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jack Merchant of the home; sons: Lenny Albin and wife KayC, Tim Albin and wife Brooke, Mark Allen Merchant; daughters: Lawanda Albin, Dena Bryant and husband Terry; brothers: Danny Fowler, Jimmy Fowler and wife Brenda, and Ronnie Fowler; sisters; Ann Shuyler and husband FW, Alvina Janow; grandchildren: Lenny Albin Jr, Ashton Landry, Derrik Leatherwood, Zach Albin, Treyce Albin, Tori Albin Kish, Calib and Corbin Merchant, Michael Paul Eagan, Trask Lynn Eagan and wife Carolina, Tanner Ray Eagan and wife Kodi; great-grandchildren: Ava Leatherwood, Darby Leatherwood, Sawyer Leatherwood, Sammy Kate Leatherwood, Harper Noelle Albin, Reese Morgan Albin, Dayton James Landry, Dawson Jude Landry, Kyse Eagan, Bralee Eagan, Taelyn Eagan, Xander Paul Eagan, Lynly Eagan, Paxtyn Eagan, Paxleigh Eagan, Parker Eagan; other relatives and many friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Olive and Alvin Fowler, her siblings, Ellen Fowler, Donnie Fowler, Sonny Fowler, Bobby Fowler, and Alice Hale.
