Roberta Meek, age 99 of Okla. City, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Roberta Louise Dixon was born August 22, 1926 in Wellington, TX, the younger of 2 daughters born to Arthur Lois and Keet (Harrell) Dixon. She was raised in Sherman, TX and attended school there.
She married young, to David Frederick Meek on September 17, 1948 in Sherman, and they celebrated 69 wonderful years together. They made their home in Sherman where they raised their only daughter, Rebecca.
Roberta worked as a Telephone Board Operator, retiring from Texas Telephone Company after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Roberta’s heart was always in her home. She kept an immaculate home, and loved tending to her garden. She was an excellent cook, and she will forever be remembered for her humble, sweet spirit and the love and care she poured out to others. Roberta’s work ethic was second none, and she would never shy away from getting her hands dirty. She was a woman of great faith and longtime member of the Heritage Nazarene Church in Sherman. She was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her husband, David Meek; her daughter, Rebecca Engleman and husband, Dennis Engleman; parents, Arthur and Keet Dixon and sister, Bernice Quanstrom.
Roberta is survived by: her pride and joy, grandchildren, Michelle Blount, Joshua Engleman and Jeremy Engleman and great grandchildren, Creighton, Kelson, Asher, Merrick, Esme, Quinn, Wilder, Harper and Jonah.
The family will plan a Graveside Memorial for a future date/time.
