Bill Medlin Jr.

Bill Medlin Jr.
November 7, 1946 ~ August 5, 2020

Bill Medlin, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in Newalla, OK. Bill was born on November 7, 1946 to parents H.W. & Cressie (Holder) Medlin.

Bill joined the Marine Corp. at 17 and although it was rough it shaped his life from that point on. After serving two tours in Vietnam, Bill wandered for several years suffering from PTSD and an unwelcoming America. Bill was married twice before meeting Judy (Shaw) on Halloween in 1980. As with most marriages there were a few rough spots, but we knew he'd done a complete 180 when this city boy who swore he'd never live in the country, stood on the balcony on the 4th of July and declared "Sure wish we'd get some rain, this pasture is so dry".

He never had any children of his own, except for the staff at Rooster's and the people of Jones, OK who all meant a lot to him. When back problems forced him to quit truck driving, he invested in the Café "To give the working people a place to go for a good meal at a reasonable price".

Bill was always a hard worker, a "Can-Do" guy who was most proud of his horses. While he never had a true Derby Winner, he enjoyed watching his horses run, and even more proud of his horses who were "Winners" that are all posted on the wall in his office.

Suffering from numerous physical problems over the years, he still maintained a good attitude about people and life, and at the end he "Waited for his Judy to come home".

Bill is preceded in death by his parents H.W. and Cressie (Holder) Medlin; step-dad Jim Parker; nieces Jackie and Mae Dixon, and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his sister, Mae Dixon; brother, Joel Medlin; sister, Shirley Ballard; aunt, Edna Doughman; uncle, Dan Holder; as well as many numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2020 at Rooster's Café, 12950 E. Britton Rd., Jones, OK 73049.
