Kena Lea (Allison) McVay, age 82, passed away on July 23, 2017 at Heritage Villa Nursing Home.
Lea was born on August 6, 1934 in Arkansas City, Kansas to parents Kenneth A. and Barbara I. (Smith) Gilland. She was raised in Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1952. She attended Cowley County Community College and graduated in 1954 with an Associate's Degree.
Lea married Donald E. Allison on February 2, 1957 in Caddo Parish Louisiana while he was stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana. Following his discharge from the service they moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1958 where he worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Lea was employed by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) as manager of Customer Service and Public Relations retiring in 1994. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed her time traveling, working in her yard and visiting her children, grandkids and great grandkids. She was deeply loved by all.
Lea married Raymond D. McVay on July 22, 1997 and made their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in September 2007.
Lea is survived by her daughter, Mari Kay Bond and husband Vernon, Ochelata, Oklahoma; sons, Ted Allison and wife Shelly, Grove, Oklahoma; Andy Allison and wife Mary Alice, Claremore, Oklahoma; Brian Allison and wife Candy, Katy, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Lyndsay Breeding-Allison, Amber Smith, Kimberlyn Elliott, April Kidwell, Alyssa Loughridge, Layne Allison, Daniel Bond, Kenny Bond, Natalie Bond and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister JoAnn Grinnell.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11 am in Arkansas City, Kansas at Hope Cemetery.
