Garold (Gary) Eugene McVay, age 82, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away December 28, 2020 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City, OK.
Gary was born on July 12th, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Clifford and Margaret (Harris) McVay. He attended Ponca City Schools, graduating in 1956. He then attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1960. He continued graduate work in Industrial Engineering at The University of Tennessee.
Mr. McVay worked at Olin Corporation in Brevard, NC and was on Olin’s Corporate Speaker Bureau. In 1973 Mr. McVay purchased his father’s business US Loan & Surplus in Ponca City, OK and in 1983 established McVay’s Western Outfitters. In 1985 he then opened M&T Finance with offices in Ponca City and Yukon, OK.
Gary loved playing competitive softball for over 50 years. He also was an avid car collector and considered automobiles as art. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City and a 32nd degree Mason member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Oklahoma.
Survivors include Pam Wright & husband Rob of Broken Arrow, OK, Brenda Lewis & husband Scott of Tulsa, OK, Linda Smith & husband Larry of Boerne, TX, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
