The memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Scott Patrick McMurry, 61, of Enid, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday July 18, 2023, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ryan Nelson officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Scott was born May 20, 1962, to Glen and Marie Trantina McMurry in St. Louis, MO, and passed from this life July 13, 2023, in Enid, OK.
He was raised and educated in Columbia, MO. Scott graduated from David H. Hickman High School in 1980. He then attended and graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration.
After college he became a manager at J. Riggins clothing store. In 1992 he accepted a job as a manager at Western Auto, which brought him to Enid, OK. He married Nikki Quarles on May 20, 1994, in Las Vegas, NV, and from that union came the love of his life, their daughter, Andrea. In 2000 he became the Garfield County Maintenance Superintendent, where he was still employed. On June 22, 2005, Scott married Cheri Weber in Enid, OK.
Scott loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and his Missouri Tigers on T.V..
He was a jack of all trades, with the ability to fix anything. He was a fitness enthusiast in his younger years and enjoyed staying in shape.
He enjoyed car and cooking shows and working on projects with his soon to be son-in-law Matthew. Most of all, he loved spending time with his best friend, his little girl, Andrea.
He is survived by his father, Glen McMurry, his daughter Andrea and her fiancé Matthew Blakley, her mother Nikki Quarles, Brother Glen Jr. and wife Caroline McMurry, Sister Terri and husband Joe Austin, Sister Tammy and husband John Dobbins, Brother Brian and wife Denise McMurry, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie McMurry, and his wife Cheri McMurry.
Andrea teaches senior English at Enid High School. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "SCOTT MCMURRY SCHOLARSHIP FUND" that will be created to allow Andrea to keep his name and memory alive, while blessing a graduating student with funds to further their education with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
