Jerry was born on November 27th, 1944 to the union of Elbert and Zelma McMurray in Phoenix, Arizona. Their family quickly settled into life in Madison County, Arkansas. Jerry received his formal education from Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Arkansas. He later pursued his degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Upon Graduation from the U of A, he was employed in a variety of Civil Service positions at Tinker Air Force Base for 50 years. He was as intelligent as he was patient. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports, especially Arkansas Razorback football and basketball games. He enjoyed music, especially Elvis, Don Williams, and Chet Atkins.
He had a great love for his family and was an incredible Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather. Jerry Wayne McMurray departed this life on April 29, 2021 to be with the lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:21)
He was preceded in death by his: Mother, Zelma Agnes McMurray; Father, Elbert Raymond McMurray; Maternal Grandmother, Effie Boatright Dennis; Maternal Grandfather, Andrew J. Dennis; Paternal Grandmother, Mary Ellen (Smith) McMurray; Paternal Grandfather, Joseph Phelix Grundy McMurray; and a host of other loved ones.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his: wife Alta Faye (Whiteley) McMurray; brother, Elbert Raymond McMurray, Jr.; brother, Larry McMurray; sister, Shirley Pappas; son Sean McMurray, and daughter Melissa McMurray, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dylan McMurray, Skyler McMurray, Sarai McMurray, and Ailey McMurray.
