Vonda Gaye (Wall) McMillian

Vonda Gaye (Wall) McMillian
June 15, 1944 ~ December 4, 2024

Vonda Gaye McMillian, 80, passed away December 4, 2024, at her residence in Webb City, Missouri.

Vonda was born June 15, 1944, in Kingston, Madison County, Arkansas, the daughter of Oscar and Margie (Slaven) Wall. She grew up in Kingston as a farm girl and helped with the never-ending chores that were demanded of a farmer’s existence. Although life was filled with hard work, Vonda was able to squeeze out a lot of fun in her childhood and teenage years and enjoyed the many young people that visited their home. She graduated in 1962 from Kingston High School as the president of her class. Soon after graduation, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to escape farm life and find a life of adventure in the city. After moving she met and fell in love with Thomas McMillian, they were married on April 10, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children. She was an attentive homemaker as well as a fabulous cook. Her family will relish the memory of her hot rolls, cherry pies, potato salad, and fabulous beef jerky.

As her family grew Vonda started working outside the home. Her first job was at the Sears Catalog Store. In 1992 she became a personal care aide at Home of Hope where she retired after 23 years. Vonda loved being around people and Vinita was a great community that she enjoyed being connected to for over forty years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Margie Wall; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Jynell Wall; brother, Paul Wall; sister and brother-in-law, Leta and Glen Inman; nephew, David Inman; two nieces, Robin Wall and Rebecca Highstower.

Vonda is survived by the father of her children, Thomas McMillian; daughter, LaDawna Adams; sons, Garold McMillian, Garen McMillian; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Jim McMillian and James and Carol Jantz; sister-in-law, Louse Wall as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6-8 PM in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Church of God – Four Corners, with Bro. Ivan Eck officiating.
