Luanne McMahan, age 68 of Tecumseh passed away Thursday January 17, 2019 in Yukon surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 14, 1950, in Pomona, CA, Luanne spent her childhood in the citrus groves farmed by her parents, William and Dorothy Porter. She graduated from Tehachipi High School and earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Bakersfield.
She was the family matriarch - chief cook and counsel. She will forever be remembered for her remarkable toughness, care, creativity and generosity.
Luanne was a businesswoman in Tecumseh for more than 40 years, owning and operating enterprises including John's Short-Stop convenience store, Udderly Wonderful Gifts, and Luanne's Bookkeeping and Tax Service.
Her greatest joy in life was her two sons, Ty and Tim, who she dedicated herself to from their first breaths until her last. She shared that love and dedication with husband of 38 years, Ron, her partner in all things.
She loved spending time on the ranch she built with Ron. Her favorite pastimes included tending to her rose garden, painting, crafts and antique-hunting. Some of her proudest work took place in the kitchen - her pie crust was famous in the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David Porter.
Survivors include her husband, Ron McMahan of Tecumseh; 2 sons, Ty McMahan of Brooklyn, NY and Tim McMahan of Purcell; sister, Carole Turner of Tecumseh; nieces, Katie Frost and Julie Turner, both of Shawnee, Kacey Bishop of Sparks, Stephanie Winters of Moore and Amy Pryor of Ft. Worth; nephews, Matt Porter of Newcastle and Patrick Pryor of Moore; sister-in-law, Vickie Porter of Prague; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rodney and Sherri Pryor of Moore; and many other family and friends.
