The Reverend Dr. Stuart Drummond McLean died June 13, 2018, at 88 years, in Rio Rancho, NM. Born December 13, 1929, Chicago, to Rev. Milton and Ruth (Shuman) McLean.

Stuart earned a BA at Oberlin (1952), where he met Mary Lehman, whom he married in 1954. Studying at Yale (M. Div 1954) and U. of Chicago (Ph.D. Theology 1968), ordained by the Presbyterian Church, his first pastoral assignment was to Magdalena, NM.

He served as campus minister at Univ. of IL Champagne-Urbana, Stanford, and as professor of theology, Christian education, and ethics at Santa Clara and Phillips Graduate Seminary, Enid.

Stuart approached life with a keen work ethic, drive to adventure, and immersion in nature, working his grandfather's farm, driving spikes on the Alaska railroad, mining iron ore in Colorado, and scaling the "14ers" of the Rocky Mountains.

A lifelong interest in politics, community service, and committed to fighting injustice, he believed the world could be a better place and worked to make it so.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Georgiana McLean, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Suzanne Lehman.

A Memorial Service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
