Shirley Marie McKendrick, age 72, a Caney, OK resident, was raised in Atoka County and lived in Hugo and Coalgate.
She was born on Wednesday, May 10, 1950, to Joseph and Christine Marie (Allen) Campbell, at Talihina, OK. Shirley passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at her home in Caney, OK. She attended High Hill School and graduated from Atoka High School in 1969. Shirley was a seamstress and worked for Blue Bell/Wrangler. She married Allen Frank McKendrick on Thursday, October 8th, 1970 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. Shirley was a member of New Zion Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, painting, knitting, and cooking whatever they wanted for the grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Christie McKendrick of Caney, OK; son, Joseph Allen McKendrick and wife Debra of Caddo, OK; grandchildren, Joseph Edwin Allen McKendrick, Caleb Don Baker; brothers, Richard Campbell of Atoka, OK, Larry Campbell of Atoka, OK; sisters, Margaret Campbell of Pittsburg, KS, Mary Williamson and husband Steven of Atoka, OK, Reita Campbell of Hugo, OK; special niece, Shawn Wooten and husband Rob of McAlester, OK; special "daughter", Nancy Sullivan and husband Tony of Durant, OK; 14 nieces; 7 nephews; special friends, Carol and Jon Blachly of Williamsburg, VA; along with other relatives and many dear friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Christine Marie (Allen) Campbell; husband, Allen Frank McKendrick; sisters, Betty Webb, Marcy Jo; brothers, Robert Campbell, George Campbell, Joe Campbell.
