Glenda was born February 16, 1957, to Russell and Chloe Ann (Wolfe) McKaig in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She passed away at her home September 7, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
Her family moved to Enid in 1968, where she graduated from Enid High School in 1975. She became a dental assistant through a high school program and worked in dental offices in Enid and Tulsa. In 1983, she married the love of her life, Steve McKeever, DDS and they proved to be an excellent team in everything they did. In Enid, Steve and Glenda were members of Westminster Church and Glenda was an active member of PEO-Chapter Q, serving in several offices, including one year as president of that chapter. When they moved to Oklahoma City in 2012, they joined the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond.
There are many things that Glenda loved about her life; going to the lake with her family in her childhood, having life-long friends who never ever left her side, working in Steve's dental office where their patients were like family, traveling to many new and exciting places in concert with her husband's extensive involvement with several dental related organizations, and their just being together. She loved her husband Steve, "In every way forever and ever." she said.
Steve and Glenda worked in his dental office in Enid until their retirement in 2012, when they moved to Oklahoma City to begin their long-awaited retirement. In 2013, they were heartbroken by the sudden and unexplained death of Steve's son, Bill. Not long after that, in September of 2014, Glenda was diagnosed with two cancers and spent the next six years undergoing extensive cancer treatments as well as a number of surgeries. Her plans and dreams for their retirement turned instead to planning for her next doctor's appointment or her next cancer treatment. When she learned that these treatments had quit working, she chose to stop any further attempts to save her life and transitioned to hospice which greatly improved her quality of life during her last days. She is now peacefully with God and resting in His heavenly home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by stepchildren, Mike McKeever of Edmond and Kelly Jones, her husband, Bryan and their son, Holden of Naperville, IL. Survivors also include brother, Tony McKaig and wife, Janis of Norman; brother, Gary McKaig and wife, Loree of Yukon; twin sister, Brenda Sowell and husband, Tim of Mustang; aunts, Mona Moyer and Thomasene Wolfe; nephews, Tyler McKaig and Derrick McKaig; nieces, Laurie Cavender and husband, Jake; Molly Krenz and husband, Tony; Alysha Hoisington and husband, Donnie; Tiffany Mauldin; Amber Donely and husband, Scott; Andrea Henkes and husband, Jake; special first cousin and friend, Misti Moyer and numerous other cousins, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Randall; stepson, William McKeever; nephew, Austin McKaig; stepbrother, Ronald McKaig and niece, Michelle McKaig.
Glenda shared a great love for the people who inspired her during her journey and she served and mentored many of her fellow patients during the many long hours in the I.V. infusion rooms. Her brother, Tony was a daily source of strength for Glenda. She was always grateful for the loving care of her oncologist, Dr. Sanjay Hapani and his team as well as the support of Mercy Hospice in Oklahoma City.
