Dortha Ann (Sordelet) McGuiness, 85, of Tishomingo passed away on August 10, 2010.
She was born on September 30, 1924 in Dallas, Texas to Henry Leon and Annie Sordelet. After completing nursing school at Baylor University, Dortha served injured soldiers at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She also served as a school nurse in Highland Park, Texas and in a private physicians practice. She was an entrepreneur, and opened several successful businesses in Greenville and Dallas, Texas.
Dortha is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Andre & Marcia Landon of Houston, Texas and Kelly & Lisa Landon of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; two step-children, Michael Landon of Houston, Texas and Susie & Tom Barger of Denton, Texas; ten grandchildren, Stacy Barger, Patrick Barger, Kathleen Barger, Beth Barger, John Thomas Barger, Vicki Landon, Ashley Landon, Thomas Landon, Marianne Landon and Jake Landon. Dortha was preceded in death by her husbands Edward Landon, Herbert McGaughey and William McGuinness.
A memorial service will be held at the Little Chapel in the Woods in Denton, Texas.
Interment to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TAILS, PO Box 65, Tishomingo, OK 73460.
