Philip Edward McGinn was born in Denver, Colorado on February 20, 1936. He grew up in Denver being raised by his grandparents. Ed passed away on Saturday morning, April 13, 2024 at Fairview, Oklahoma.
As a young man he was drafted into the army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While at Fort Sill he went to visit family in Eagle City, Oklahoma. There was a dance nearby and his family talked him into asking a widow, Norma Jean Haigler, with 4 young children – Randy Haigler, Gloria Haigler, Ray Haigler and Dean Haigler to the dance. The rest was history. They were married in October of 1960. To this union was born Scott McGinn and Jim McGinn. After getting out of the service they made their home in Arvada, Colorado. He went to work for the Rocky Mountain News as a mailer. He worked there until he retired. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Arvada Fire Department. He loved traveling, camping vacations with the kids growing up, playing card games, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his wife, Norma Jean McGinn, his brother Doug McGinn, son Scott McGinn, grandson Grady Haigler, son in law Richard Starr, great granddaughters Rissie and Riley Haigler, brother Roger Wolfe and grandson Travis Haigler.
Survivors include sons Randy Haigler and wife Paula, Ray Haigler and wife Coleen, Dean Haigler and wife Dawnna, James McGinn and wife Karla, and daughter Gloria Haigler Starr, daughter in law Elizabeth McGinn. Grandchildren Randy Haigler Jr, Tucker, Haigler, Bailey Haigler Everling, Nicholas Haigler, Chad Harding, Aaron Harding, Sandra Haigler McPhate, Daniel Haigler, San Haigler, Morgan Haigler Moynier, Brandi Haigler, Levi Haigler, Andrea McGinn Waldridge, Mathew McGinn, Shawnna McGinn, Brittney McGinn Crase, Emily McGinn Gordon Kris Allison and Tim Allison. 45 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Michael Grigsby officiating. Services arrangements by Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.
Memorials may be made to Homestead Cemetery Association or Canton Christian Church with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton OK, 73724.
