Ruth Lucille McFerron died in Flower Mound, Texas at 2:35 July 17, 2012. She was born on April 11, 1922 in McCune Kansas. She grew up there on a farm with her six brothers and sisters. She graduated from McCune High School in 1940. She then attended Pittsburg State College, becoming a 5th grade teacher for five years. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Carl B. Rupard and moved to Pittsburg, KS. Ruth & Carl lived in Pittsburg until 1957, then moved to Miami, Oklahoma becoming members of the First Methodist Church. They had two children, Steven and Rebecca (Becky). She was preceded in death by Carl in 1967 and her second husband, Bob McFerron in 2006. Following the death of Carl, Ruth worked as a teller at First National Bank until 1982.
In 1982 Ruth married Robert (Bob) McFerron as they continued to live in Miami. During their marriage they traveled from coast to coast, enjoying the sights and visiting family all over the country. In 2004, following an illness, both Ruth and Bob moved to Allgood's Estates in Commerce, Oklahoma. Following Bob's death in 2006, Ruth moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma and then, in 2011, to Lewisville, Texas.
Ruth is survived by her two children, Steve Rupard of Highland Village, TX and Rebecca (Becky) Cullison of Bartlesville, OK; a brother, Don Morrison of Dallas, TX, a sister, Juanita Hinshaw of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren Diana Grace, Alan Rupard, Andy Rupard, Carla Cullison and Brian Cullison; along with eight great-grandchildren. She also had four step-children Jan Davis, Vicki Kolb, Rob McFerron, Kathy Roberts, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Ruth also was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine Sharp, and three brothers, Orville Morrison, Conard Morrison and Wallace Morrison.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved nothing more than to be in the company of her two families. Ruth was always there to support them and to support her friends with both love and comfort.
Funeral services will be under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home-Miami on August 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dale P. Scott officiating. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, that gifts be shared with the Wounded Warriors Project.
