It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our loving dad/ husband and amazing Papa, Tim McFarland, 66, of Durant, Oklahoma.
Tim was the middle child of 5 siblings, and it is fair to say he had an equal mixture of his mother’s introverted nature and his father’s business acumen and certainly a double dose of generosity. Growing up in the quaint town of Live Oak, California his two older brothers toughened and sharpened him while his two younger sisters helped plant a seed of hospitality that he would later develop in the medical field.
Tim married his high school sweetheart, Pamula, and swept her away to Beale Airforce base to begin their life journey together that lasted 47 years. As a young veteran of the Airforce, Tim saw opportunities in East Texas that would launch his medical career and moved his wife and baby girl 3000 miles away. During his time in Tyler, Texas, he developed deep and lasting friendships with his paramedic partner and flight nurse crew for Flight for Life. Tim and Pam also welcomed another son and daughter and moved to Keller, Texas to seek out better opportunities for their growing family. He became a flight nurse for Care Flight in ‘88 and touched many lives in dire situations from helping restart a 4-year-old girl’s heart again, to taking care of federal agents from the Waco compound shooting in ‘93.
Life again would change for Tim and his family when he was diagnosed with cancer. With multiple treatments and surgeries, the doctors only gave him a year to live. Our dear Father in heaven restored his body and cleared the cancer completely to the astonishment of his care takers. He took this change in pace as an opportunity to modify his career and study anesthesiology with the support of his family. Tim became a successful businessman over the years, continued to study and refine his craft for care and hospitality, and would seize opportunities to show love and generosity to family and strangers alike. He is a beloved friend, husband, father, and Papa.
Tim McFarland is survived by his darling wife, Pamula, his 3 children Lindsay (Jason) Becker, Rusty (Meredith) McFarland and Stephanie (Michael) Brownlow, and his 7 grandchildren, Cordelia, Amelia, Ryleigh, Maddox, Kaitlyn, Alexander, and Ariyah, of whom he referred to as the brightest stars in his sky. Dad, you are so greatly missed. Thank you for being such an incredible role model and loving us all unconditionally. Now it’s our turn to live life to the fullest and keep your legacy alive. Until we meet again.
