The Memorial Services Celebrating and Honoring the life of Gary McDowell, 72, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 2, 2021 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Barrick officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Gary McDowell Sr. was born June 10, 1948 to Vestal and Nola (Wilson) McDowell in Fairview, Oklahoma and passed from this life May 25, 2021 in Enid, Oklahoma.
He lived in Ringwood in his early years and was raised and educated in Enid. He worked hauling drilling mud in the oilfield industry until he joined the United States Marine Corps and served eighteen months during the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and returned to Enid. He worked as a Cattleman for Groendyke Cattle Ranch until his retirement in 2002. He was an excellent mechanic and wood worker. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his dogs. He was well versed in the art of complaining.
He is survived by his sons Cory McDowell, of Enid, Justin and wife Heather McDowell, of Yukon, and Kevin McDowell, of Enid; grandchildren, Aaron McDowell, Ava McDowell, Addison McDowell, Celeste McDowell, Amanda McDowell, Jessica Chilton, Joshua McDowell, and Tyler McDowell.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son Gary McDowell Jr.
