Tommy Louis McDonald
February 25, 1944 - December 14, 2024

A Legacy of Perseverance and Kindness

Tommy McDonald, a cherished figure in the Hendrix, Oklahoma community, passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on February 25, 1944, to Clarence McDonald and Agnes Blankenship, Tommy faced life's challenges with resilience. A tragic tractor accident in his youth resulted in the loss of his leg, but this did not deter his spirit. Instead, he embraced life with determination, becoming a dedicated farmer and an inspiring role model to his family and friends.

Tommy's educational journey began in Liberty and continued at Achille Public School, where he graduated with a high school diploma. Tommy’s early years laid the foundation for his work ethic and dedication to his community.

A Loving Family Man
In 1967, Tommy married the love of his life, Donna, at Parkside Baptist Church. The couple’s affection was unmistakable as they called each other “Love” when speaking. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming two daughters, Jeana and Jana, who became the center of their lives. Tommy's heart filled with joy as he became a grandfather to Tanner and Colton and a great-grandfather to Kason and Colt.

Tommy kept close ties with his siblings and shared many happy moments and memories together through the years. His parents, his older sister, Judy McDonald O'Boyle, and a younger sister, Lana Rencher Hill, preceded him in death. He is survived by his younger sister, Brenda, and her husband, Mike Perryman, of Achille.

Passion for Farming and Community Spirit
Tommy's unwavering commitment to farming was a testament to his character. He instilled a love for the land in his daughters, teaching them to drive the tractor and work in the hay baling business. His dedication to farming was matched only by his generosity; he was known for sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family alike. For many years, Tommy kept a large garden as a source of sustenance that reflected his nurturing spirit.

Joyful Pursuits
Tommy truly celebrated life. Despite the challenges he faced, he found joy in dancing, hunting, and fishing. His laughter could often be heard during lively card and domino games with friends. He cherished his hunting trips, processing deer meat to feed his family, and creating lasting memories along the way.

A Career Built on Dedication
Throughout his career, Tommy embraced hard work with open arms. He held various positions, including at Foster's Cabinets and LTV in Grand Prairie. From 1969 to 1988, he proudly worked at the Safeway Foods processing plant. Known for his warm hospitality and acceptance, Tommy made friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Tommy McDonald never strayed from his beloved home in Hendrix, Oklahoma. His legacy is one of hard work, kindness, and an unyielding spirit. As we celebrate his life, we honor the countless memories, lessons, and love he shared with us all. Tommy will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire the community he touched so profoundly. Rest in Peace.
