Today we celebrate the life of Sue McDonald, she went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2024. Sue was born on May 20, 1951, in Rantoul, Illinois, to parents Paul and Polly Hitesman. As the child of an American Military man, she lived in many place until her family settled in Denison, Texas.
In her youth, Sue performed as a majorette at Denison High School. She graduated from DHS in1969. She attended Grayson County College and earned her cosmetology license and she also worked at Katy Golf Course, which sparked her love for golf.
Sue had no greater love in her life than her two daughters. She enjoyed the outdoors and had many adventures with her kids at the lake camping and making memories.
Sue’s entrepreneur’s spirit would not let her settle, she owned Charlie Subs and Suds in Cartwright, Oklahoma and the Mohawk Inn in Colbert, Oklahoma. Sue loved watching football and drinking beer with her friends, and she had a lot of them. She was a successful female business owner.
Sue was proceeded in death by parents Paul and Polly Hitesman, her husband J.D. McDonald from Denison TX, brother Larry Hitesman from Union City, TN, grandson Justin Dea Wayne Easley from Denison TX, and her daughter Heather Lea Rutledge Clark from Denison, TX,
Sue is survived by her significant other Roger McDowell from Denison, TX, daughter Misty McGee Acosta and her husband Allen Acosta from Mead, OK, grandchildren Dylan Kelly and Child Wesley from Atoka, OK, Ashlyn and Corbin Cowan with children Calvary, Crusade, and Caius from Kenefic, OK, Anthony Hess and Shyanne Walker with children Kayden, Mackenzlie, Ava, Alayah, Azayah from Calera, OK, Debbie Hitesman from Union City, TN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, OK, on January 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm and burial will follow at Cedar Lawn in Sherman, TX. Following the graveside services there will be a reception honoring Sue, at the American Legion, on Crawford Street in Denison.
