Jack Dale McDonald
July 4, 1937 ~ March 20, 2024

Jack Dale McDonald was born at home in Sharon, OK on the Fourth of July, 1937 to Harvey Eldridge and Hazel Etta (McDowell) McDonald and died at home in Sharon, OK on March 20, 2024 with family at his bedside. He grew up in Sharon and Woodward, OK with his eight siblings and graduated from Woodward high school in 1954. After graduation he moved to Oklahoma City and attended Draughon School of Business for a Junior Business degree and his education led him to an accounting position with NCR. After a couple of years in accounting he went to work for a music company selling records, delivering pianos and tuning pianos He enjoyed that job for a few years before he started his career in the optical field. He became an optician in 1961 and continued working in that field for 60+ years. His last 43 years as an optician was with Dr's Peck & Peck in Woodward, OK. He loved working with his patient's.

He enjoyed sitting in his driveway drinking a cold beer, northwest Oklahoma sunsets, staying busy and keeping the town of Sharon mowed, moving shit around in his shop, having a good conversation and giving sage advice, laughing a lot and giving his favorite people a hard time, grilling burgers and steaks, making biscuits and gravy, supervising the annual McDonald Sports Society fish fry, fishing, hunting and playing pitch with his sons, nephews, extended family and friends. He loved the richness of relationships with other people and loved his wife and children with everything he had.

He is survived by four sons, Dale (Karen) McDonald, Mounds, OK; Ron (Heather) McDonald, Lewisville, TX; Jay (Vickie) McDonald, Mentor, OH; Bill McDonald, Muskogee, OK and one daughter Tammy (Tiffany) Brittan McDonald, Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren Megan Selby, Bixby, OK, Zackery (Christian) McDonald Pak, Chicago, IL, Zane (Jane) McDonald, Austin, TX, Emma McDonald, Austin, TX, Allison Dauphin, Sharon, OK, Kylor Sapcutt, Port Orchard, WA, Devin McDonald, San Diego, CA, Jaden and Jackson McDonald, Mentor, OH.
Great grandchildren Brantley Selby, Bixby, OK, Ella Cooper, Port Orchard, WA, Olivia Davis, Sharon, OK.
Sister-in-law Joyce McDonald, Elk City, OK, brother in laws Rodney (Linda) McGriff, Hanford, CA, Craig (Donna) McGriff, Oklahoma City, OK. And many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lovella (McGriff) McDonald; brothers, Johnny McDonald, Kenneth McDonald, Curly McDonald, Bill McDonald, Joe McDonald, Dick McDonald; sisters, Thelma Smith, Skeeter Griffith; parents, Harvey and Hazel McDonald.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Town of Sharon.
